Rainbow salad in a Jar

Rainbow salad in a Jar

Hi everybody, dear readers and loyal subbies,

Ok, ok I confess it is not very creative that I am posting two food  related posts in a row. But I felt like sharing this one! This Rainbow salad is so simple to make, uses left over veggies, is healthy  and looks so colorful.

For this Rainbow Salad you will need some ( FYI you are free to add as much or as little as you want of these ingredients. :

  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Carrots
  • Peas
  • Quinoa
  • Lime
  • Pepper
  • Salt

Cook the quinoa as per instructions. For extra flavor I cooked my quinoa in some vegetable stock. Layer all your different components in the jar. Make sure that your quinoa has cooled down. Create a dressing with some lime juice and add salt and pepper to taste and drizzle over your salad in a jar.

I can imagine creating this one with couscous, Beetroot, Feta cheese and cucumber, mint and  a dressing of lime, salt and pepper.  I have not created that one yet but the flavors should work.

I hope you all liked this post. For my last post click here.  And as always please feel free to leave a comment. Until next post friends!

Indian food delight

Indian food delight

Hi all,

Just wanted to share the Indian food which I had with my parents last Sunday.  I just love Indian food. I love the spices and love the smell. The food tastes so good and comforting and I always feel very happy afterwards.

So my dad had the Lamb Vindaloo, my mum had the Tandori Salmon and I had the lamb Bangali. Does it not all look very yummy!

For the desert I had a pistachio kulfi.  Even though  the flavor was very concentrated it was very yummy. The only thing what would have made it more enjoyable for me, and this is personal off course  less coconut on top . But  I loved the pistachio flavor.

I hope you all enjoyed this little food sharing. For my last food orientated post click here. Have a good weekend and until next post.

3 Days of birthday festivities

3 Days of birthday festivities

Hello friends,

I turned 29 on the 18th of May! Yeeh!  Because it was a bank holiday on a Monday I took the Tuesday and the Wednesday (my birthday) off. So yeeh for long weekends! Because my birthday was in the middle of the week and a lot of people had to work I got two birthdays! Who does not enjoy that huh?

Day 1 pre -birthday (17th May )

Tuesday I went shopping in the city Haarlem and Purmerend with my mother. So my mum and I started in Haarlem. We were browsing the little stores in the center of Haarlem but we decided to have lunch first. We settled to go to Cafe Brinkman which is located on the Grote Markt in Haarlem Center.  I had a sandwich Bali which  was quite tasty . The sandwich photographed really well. Such a nice big sandwich.

20160517_140517.jpg

I was really surprised that when my mum and I were out and about  it was really nice weather, as the Forecast that week was crap.  It was sunny and even I felt hot on occasion. After lunch we visited some stores  tried on some things and then we decided to go back to Purmerend and do some shopping there.  Once done we returned to my parents house and had some pizza and salad and ofcourse some cake. The cake was really good but I had too much. At 0.00 hours I opened some pressies. Awesome!

Day 2 The real birthday ( 18th May)

Day 2 I spent with my sister. She told me to be at Haarlem station at 12.45 hours  so we could get lunch at 1300 hours.  Lunch, really sis ! She made me  walk this weird route . And I was like what is going on. Where are we having lunch? And then we ended up at Douglas at the MAC counter !! Hell yeah!! I got a MAC make over and afterwards I could choose  € 60,- worth of products! Pretty sweet! As I was in the moment , I sort of caved and purchased some other stuff from MAC. So below you can see the items the MAC artist used on me. Can I just say that the MAC water weight foundation is awesome. My skin looked really nice.

After my MAC makeover we had lunch at the Thrill Grill. I think this is turning out to be a great place for lunch. I opted for the Kranenburger, a burger. On the picture it looks so simple but the flavor combination is awesome. A beef burger , lettuce, red onion jam, Blue Cheese dressing and crushed black pepper on a toasted organic bun. Hmmmm so good. Also their homemade Ice tea is soooo good.

Afterwards it was shopping around and scoring some great deals really. For dinner we had some nice sushi.  Afterwards we chilled out in front of the tv all in all a good day,

Day 3 day of cake

As per Dutch tradition you usually get cake for your co workers. Unfortunately I forgot to make pictures of these cakes. I got  3 cakes and they were delicious.  They all went down a treat.

I hope you all enjoyed this post. I am planning to do a what I got for my birthday post and do a little haul post what  I got during those days. For last year festivities click here . Until next post friends!

Thumbs Sample testing: Diamond White Rich Luxury Cleanse

Thumbs Sample testing: Diamond White Rich Luxury Cleanse

Hi everybody, dear readers and loyal subbies,

I thought it would be fun to write a post about one of the samples I received when I purchased the Becca Champagne Pop highlighter . If you all like this post,  maybe this could be a new sort of series on Thumbelinaslifestyle. So be sure to leave a comment if you liked this  one.

So I received the sample Diamond White Rich Luxury Cleanse from the brand Natura Bisse Barcelona. I have never heard of this brand before, but the packaging sort of screams luxury brand too me. When I check out their website , at first impression they seem to be focused on skincare in the higher segment of the market.

nattura.PNGAs this sample is today’s post star ,lets get through my experience with this bad boy!

Firstly I was impressed by how much product came out of this little sample pack. Usually when I see such a sample, I am like forget it there will be no product in it.  Secondly the texture to me felt weird. It felt thick and to me it resembled like Vicks Vaporub, the stuff you rub on your chest when you have a horrible cold or flu. However on the outer package it ” states to be a rich cleansing micro emulsion” maybe rich equals thick? Furthermore it smelled quite organic (which in my weird world means , it smell like planty stuff ) it was not horrible but it was not making me want to put on more product on the face.

You apply this cleanser on dry hand palms and you rub this over your face and chest. Afterwards you moisten your hands and massage the product into  the skin. Afterwards cleanse with water or with Natura Bisse cleansing sponges, which of course I did not have.

My first thoughts about this sample are that I  would not want to purchase this. I did not really like the application method. Eventhough it left my skin smooth and soft, it left this temporary weird red mark on my face. It was not big but I have not seen my skin respond to cleanser like that. Maybe I was allergic to it a bit. Unfortunately this sample was not a success for me, but who knows it could be for you.

And finishing with those wise words of wisdom ( errrrmmmm) concludes this post. Please let me know what you think of this what you think about this concept.Until next time friends.

Mini nail polish purge

Mini nail polish purge

Hello dear readers,

I thought it was about time to clean out some of my polishes which went off or which I absolutely dislike.  I always struggle with chucking things out, but whats the point to keep things which are expired or bluntly said crap. A question I always have is that I  never know where to deposit polish in. It cannot be good to chuck these in the regular garbage. Is it? If anyone has an answer to that one please let me know!

Time to get through this specific list.I will  write down what I think of these polishes and if I would recommend these polishes to you all or if I would repurchase these again. Looking at my list most of them are topcoats. O well c’est la vie!

Rimmel Nail Nurse Stronger base coat. This is a nice base coat from Rimmel. It has a nice brush and goes on very evenly. For sure I would repurchase this base coat and would for sure recommend.

Rimmel Finishing Touch Ultra Shine Topcoat.  This is my second fave topcoat . Again this one is from  Rimmel. Yes I would repurchase this one. And it is a cheaper alternative to the Sally Hansen gel topcoat.

17 Nail Xtras strengthening base coat. I did not really like this base coat. This one did not go on evenly plus the brush was very tiny. Would not repurchase this one.

Essie No Chip ahead nail top coat. Very disappointed with this product.  You would think that Esssie  would bring out an outstanding topcoat. Boy I was wrong and would not recommend this one to you.

Herome W.I.C polish in color 13.  I wrote a little rant about this polish a year ago. Hells no I I would not repurchase this one for my life.

I hope you all liked this mini purge. Do you guys  purge your collections often? Please feel free to leave a comment. For my last nail related post click here. Until next time Friends!

Thumbs nails of the month: Miss Sporty Lasting Colour in 5105

Thumbs nails of the month: Miss Sporty Lasting Colour in 5105

Hi everybody, dear readers and loyal subbies,

Its May! and the beginning of the month, so its time for Thumbs nails of the month.  For this month I opted for a cheap polish from the brand Miss Sporty in color 5105. This polish claims to last up to 10 days and has a maxi brush to coat your nails. I used two coats to do my and topped it of with my favorite Sally Hansen Gel Top coat.

Thumbs up for the  following:

  • Price
  • Lovely Vintage pin up red
  • Nice brush and application
  • Pigmentation

Thumbs down for  the following:

  • Minimal chipping after one day. Therefor thinking that this polish will not last 10 days on my nails.

I hope you all liked this post. For my last post click here  and as always please feel free to leave a comment.  Just a quick question to all  people who suffer from eczema any tips? My hands are killing me at the moment. Grr def going to be a un-favorite for the month of May.

Sunday luncheon

Sunday luncheon

Hello dear readers,

I felt like sharing a quick Sunday post. After a week of horrible weather, finally  some good spring sunshiny weather. Really the weather has been on steroids the last week, which resulted in a nasty migraine attack last Friday . Don’t you hate that when weather causes that.

Anyhow  my sister and I had some lunch at Bagel and Beans.  After long deliberation I went for the Japanese Salmon bagel which was very delightful I must say.  Loving the wasabi and teriyaki sauce that comes with this bagel. It tasted great. Also my Latte was excellently made. Always a delight to come to Bagels and Beans for lunch.

What are you doing this Sunday? Have a good week guys! Until next post friends.

Thumbs April favorites and unfavorites

Thumbs April favorites and unfavorites

Hi Friends,

It is nearly the end of the month and it is time for sharing my faves and unfaves for the month of April. Compared to last month I am enjoying a lot of things. Unfortunately I had to add 2 un-favorites for this month but we will come to that towards the end of this post. Lets get started shall we?

Favorites

Big hoop earrings – I bought these earrings myself and I love them. They just give that lil bit extra to your look.

Becca Champagne Pop Highlighter- This highlighter makes my skin so glowy and gives my make up such a lovely finish. I do admit that sometimes I have used a little bit too much, but hey it is my face!

Rimmel 9-in 1 BB cream- When you feel like you don’t want to wear a lot of make up  and you just want some coverage, this is the thing to use. Plus it has some spf to it so good for the protection against the sun.

Carmen  HD2390 Hairdryer- Eventhough this hairdryer was not that expensive it has some power to it. It dries my hair really quickly and it has a nice diffuser with it. Eventhough I am still lacking the skills using this diffuser properly I love it.

Nike running shoes – Wow these shoes are so comfortable. They feel really  light and it is like walking on air with these shoes.  I just love  the pink Nikce logo. Hmm might ask a second pair in black and white for my birhtday.

MAC Mehr – I love this color and it feels so comfortable in the lips and I get compliments when wearing this color which is always nice. It is not too much it is just right.

Restaurant Mandarijn – They just serve glorious food here. It is very affordable and the service is really nice. Last time for my mothers birthday  I ordered the crab dish and it was delicious. Just hard to get in ggegeeg

Un-favorite

Max  Factor Voluptuous False Lash Effect Mascara – This mascara is trying to kill me by poking my eyeball out!  I just find it very uncomfortable working with this mascara. .

Breaking up. After nearly five years my boyfriend and I decided to break up. Eventhough this hurts, currently it is the best thing to do for me. And as people say there are many fish in the sea. I will just keep on doing the things that make me happy!

Concluding with the un-favorites ends this post. I hope you all liked reading this one! Until next time friends and hope to see you back soon.

Kim

Welcome MAC Brave

Welcome MAC Brave

Hi friends,

Welcome back to my little space on the internet. Always a pleasure to see that people take the time to read my posts.  Anyway today I wanted to write about welcoming a new MAC lippy to my makeup collection.

I received this lippy very kindly from my sister as a little pick me up. I was browsing our local MAC counter in the Douglas and as they did not have a lot which was tickling my fancy , I opted for MAC brave. Although the lippy  ( MAC Retro)  that my sister picked up was pretty awesome too! So maybe nex time ! Heheh!

Anyway lets get back to MAC brave. Mac Brave is in my opinion a  blue toned pink, eventhough some say it is between a cool toned and a warm toned color. What I love about this color is that it is very wearable and glides on  the lips very nicely. The finish of this lipstick is satin.

All and all I am very happy to welcome this lipstick to my draw of lipsticks. What are your go to lippies from MAC? Feel free to leave a comment. Until next time friends!

XoXo,
